Yeet posted: 06.25.2019 - 2:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'd imagine the non-chartered entry list for Daytona will look something like this #27 Premium Motorsports (Reed Sorenson) #31 Richard Childress Racing (Tyler Reddick) #53 Rick Ware Racing (B.J McLeod) #62 Beard Motorsports (Brendan Gaughan) #66 MBM Motorsports (Joey Gase or Timmy Hill) #96 Gaunt Brothers Racing (Parker Kligerman or D.J Kennington?) I'm a little hesitant to consider the #71 Tommy Baldwin Racing on the list but I'm assuming they still have the car that DNQd the 500, but that's a possibility 5. Next week at Daytona would be a good place to avoid that usual prediction though, because it's the one and only remaining race before the start of the playoffs where an underdog (i.e. anybody but Gibbs/Penske) has more than just a miniscule chance of reaching Victory Lane. It doesn't mean that the same old boring outcome won't happen (like it did at Daytona) but something different could happen (like it did at Talladega). I think the underdog teams know full well that Daytona is their last *realistic* chance to secure a playoff spot via a win, and if for no other reason than that we might see somebody (Ricky Stenhouse comes to mind) be willing to wreck the entire field if that's what it takes to get the checkered flag. 10. Mile501 posted: 06.25.2019 - 4:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I don't think Christian is making a prediction as much as he's making a point. Those 4 drivers have won nearly all the races so far this year. I hope he's wrong--he might even hope he's wrong if he likes seeing a variety of winners--but so far, he hasn't been. @9 - While midpack teams have a chance to win plate races, it isn't as likely as we tend to think. 11 of the last 14 Daytona races have been won by SHR, Hendrick, Penske, or Gibbs. 2 others were won by Roush and RCR, and the only big surprise was Petty (by Almirola) in 2014, which was rain-shortened. 11. FWIW, I think you're right - those 4 teams are simply above the rest in terms of money and skill. Ganassi and Childress, together with Almirola/Suarez/Byron/Bowman make a second tier (with a small chance of a win, especially at a plate track), and everyone else is in the third tier, with no chance unless something weird happens. 14.
