LarsonDixonLine posted: 09.17.2019 - 9:03 pm Rate this comment: (2) (1) @1 My theory is that Rick Ware probably owns 4 maybe 5 cars total and he knows that if he runs 2 full time teams chances are they'll be in the bottom 6 of cars that were running at full power at the end of a given race. So after saving up some money and getting those extra cars now he enters an extra third or fourth car at races that are cheaper to enter/would give more of a reward and thus has 4 opportunities to build relationships with sponsors and even drivers and save some money by running a little slower, maybe sacrificing a spot or two, and instead of bringing home 2 paychecks brings home 4 and will likely re-invest it in his team when he feels they can compete at at higher level. 5. ABear posted: 09.18.2019 - 8:36 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) This may be a dumb question, but with RWR constantly switching between Ford and Chevrolet, do they even get technical support from the manufactures? Or are they just running old second-hand equipment from other teams? There was a picture from Las Vegas of the 51 that had a Powered by Ford logo under the hood which seems like Ford was providing some kind of support. Hopefully someone else knows cause I am really curious about this. 7. Scott25 posted: 09.18.2019 - 10:00 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @6 I think they're lucky if they're even running second hand cars. None of the small teams receive much support from the manufacturers, on his podcast Lajoie says that Go FAS doesn't receive any support from Ford, but they still get included in team meetings/Ford events. They're usually running second hand Front Row cars who themselves are in Roush hand-me-downs, and RWR are a tier below Go FAS. Powered by Ford is probably just there because there's not much choice there if you're running a Ford. 8. peanuts posted: 09.18.2019 - 10:25 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) RWR has a lot more than 4-5 cars. It seems like he could actually field 5 cars and given race, the 51 under the Petty Ware name, the other four under the Rick Ware name. Numbers 50 through 54 have already been thrown around. It would be nearly impossible for him to make the final four like he did in 2014, because we have playoff points now, but I could see him sneaking his way into the round of 12 and maybe even into the round of 8. He has 7 top 12 finishes in the last 10 races and was 10th quickest in first practice at Richmond. In the spring race at Richmond, he finished 9th. 21. Kevin has a 7.7 entering this race. Joey has a 9.6 and this race's pole winner Brad Keselowski has a 10.3 and last week's pole winner Clint Bowyer has a 10.2, the best 4 qualifiers of the season. Joey is certainly dropping above 10.0 and Brad may barely go under 10.0, other than that Kevin is inching closer to being a full 3 positions higher in average start all season long compared to the rest of the field. Along with his 5 poles (season high), this is Kevin's 4th second place start for a total of 9 front row starts in 2019. The reason I'm pointing this out is because this will be Kevin's first time achieving such a feat, when it seemed like he was nowhere as half as good a qualifier as he was during his time at Richard Childress Racing from 2001-2013 at all compared to now. His best two average starts at RCR (aka better than 15.0) were 13.5 in 2006 and 14.6 in 2012. The rest were higher than 15.0. Unbelievable. 24. That leaves the remaining drivers to battle for the last 3 spots. Among them, Blaney, Bowman, Bowyer, and (Kurt) Busch did the best at the Roval last year. It's too hard for the track owners to compromise or get together to make that drastic of a change at the moment. NASCAR has had a season that's went from February to November for years. There's no way they can overhaul the schedule with a snap of the finger. Mid-week races would have to happen as well and a lot of the track owners are against that as well. Of course Pocono has already made steps of having a double header weekend with shorter races. One race will be 140 laps. It's a step in the right direction. There's no need to go to Pocono two different times a year. It would be good for NASCAR if they could get Pocono, Watkins Glen, Dover, and Loudon over in two-three weeks. Tentative schedule for Pocono in 2020: https://www.nascar.com/news-media/2019/07/27/race-lengths-additional-details-announced-for-2020-pocono-doubleheader/ 161. IndyCar runs 16-18 races per year. ARCA runs about 20 races per year. F1 also runs about 20 races per year. IMSA runs 12 races per year. Austraila's SuperCars have 30 races per year, but most of them are doubled up like Pocono will be next year. Why does NASCAR feel the need to occupy 38 weekends every year? 164. So you're putting the blame for no reason. #163 The schedule has been this way for years from February to November. The problem is they have contracts with multiple tracks (too many 1.5 mile tracks at that). Also all of Australia Supercars are double heading except the 2 prestige races so it's not exactly 30 races a year. I'm all for as many races to watch, the more the merrier IMO, I wouldn't mind them trimming the schedule though. As long as the series continue to exist, at least. 165. jensenators posted: 09.22.2019 - 3:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think the "easy" solution is only 1 race per track. There are 23 different tracks. I quote easy, because the tracks don't want to lose a date and lose money. One of the reasons that Indycar has great attendance each year, is because you can only see them once. By going to a track twice in one year, the fans can pick 1, and not go to the other with how expensive it is. If a track wants 2 races, do what Charlotte has done. 1 on the oval, 1 on the road course. I'd love to see the 2nd Daytona race on the road course. They'll never do it because of history, and loving the unpredictability of restrictor plate racing. 166. possum posted: 09.22.2019 - 5:40 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @160 - actually, having races on Saturday night is part of the problem. People seem too forget that NASCAR used too race over 40-50 times a year. You couldn't do that now unless you make NASCAR a small track series like it used too be.
