Non-impound races you get 2 practice sessions, one 30 minute session before qualifying and one, 1 hour session on Saturday before the Xfinity/Truck race. Impound races one 90 minute practice session before qualifying. For the Daytona 500, 3 practice sessions each 1 hour in length. one on Saturday before qualifying, one on Thursday before the Duels, and one on Saturday before the 500. This would be a significant reduction in practice across the board. 163. Kyle Busch is very good at that, which is why he's so dominant against less experienced drivers (i.e. Xfinity or Trucks). Practice is where you do that. Busch, more than some other drivers, struggles when the car is not setup precisely to his liking. @160 - Kansas in (I think) 2007 ran well into darkness too. @172 - something to what you say - it was a long day, and Fox probably didn't have as big a staff on track as usual. OTOH a lot of the problem was production, with the wrong camera being selected, or the cameraman not being alerted to what the director wanted him to focus on. That seemed to be in evidence in the earlier races too, which supports the idea that they're not trying as hard as they could to put out a quality product. 174.
