With so few theaters open due to the coronavirus, and most being drive ins, most studios are hesistant to release new films to them (either delaying releases or going for lucarative screening deals) leaving many studios to rerelease crowd-pleasing favorites of yesteryear. One of my local theaters is running "Days of Thunder" and seeing it on the big screen after all these years was amazing. It's easy to see why it got that "Best Sound" Oscar nomination when you hear the V8s roar on the big screen. "Days of Thunder is far from the only classic film to head back to theaters of late with others including "Jaws," "Back to the Future," several Dreamworks and Disney animated films, and entries in the "Harry Potter" franchise. The last three weeks at the U.S. box office have been topped by "Jurassic Park," "Zootopia," and the original "Ghostbusters" respectively. 29. oldschoolracing519 posted: 07.09.2020 - 12:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) so with the announcement of the Daytona race being at the Road Course can we finally see stats for Road Course races at Daytona be put into its own Track page? would be great considering how many races are actually on it and not the oval 30. The Kentucky racetrack misses many suggestions for a new racing calendar for 2021 that can be found online or on YouTube. Obviously, many fans don't like this racetrack. Then I got an idea: Why not let some race tracks rotate from calendar to calendar? You could combine certain racetracks in pairs, with the first racetrack getting a cup date in the odd years and the other racetrack in the even years. So that the promoters have an income in between, the racetrack not in the cup is given an Xfinity date as compensation. For example, the second race in Michigan could be rotated with the Chicagoland race. 2021 Chicagoland in August, 2022 Michigan again, 2023 Chicagoland again. At Kentucky, I could imagine joint venture with Nashville Superspeedway or Mid-Ohio, so that these two tracks alternate with Cup and Xfinity. In this way you get a lot more different race tracks in the cup calendar. 34. Corey posted: 07.10.2020 - 9:21 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) @33 Not good idea. Custer restarted sixth on the GWC restart, took it to the outside immediately to get by Keselowski and slotted into third place down the backstretch by passing Blaney. Meanwhile, as Harvick the leader raced into turn 3, he got hooked by Truex and had to save his car to keep it pointed in the right direction, but that allowed the #19 to get to his outside in turns 3 and 4, which then allowed Blaney to duck under both of them off turn 4 and make it three-wide! At the white flag, Custer had the momentum on the outside and powered around all of them to take the lead, while Blaney caught the bumps on the frontstretch apron, pushing his #12 up the track and door-slamming Harvick, who spent the rest of the final lap with a severe smoking tire rub. Through it all, Custer emerged with the victory, his first Cup win (coming off his career-best fifth place at Indianapolis the prior week)! 168. I went looking for years that had a strong rookie class and almost gave up but I was finally able to find the answer. 209. Joe Milikan (5th), Harry Gant (6th), Dale Earnhardt (8th), and Terry Labonte (9th) all finished in the top 10. That year was an awesome class. And although a tall order, I believe this year's class has an outside chance as a whole to be better or successful than that one. They have their work cut out for them. Earnhardt won the Rookie of the Year despite missing four races due to breaking both of his clavicles (collarbones) in a crash at the second Pocono race after leading 43 laps. Earnhardt (drove for Rod Osterlund) recorded: 27/31 races, one win (Bristol #1- 16th career start), 11 top-5's, 17 top-10's, 4 poles, and 605 laps led. He finished 7th in the final standings. Labonte (drove for Billy Hagen) recorded: Started all 31 races, two top-5's, 13 top-10's, and 8 laps led. He finished 10th in the final standings. Milikan (drove for L.G. DeWitt- championship owner for Benny Parsons in 1973) recorded: Started all 31 races, five top-5's, 20 top-10's, one pole (Nashville #1), and 188 laps led. He finished 6th in the final standings. Very impressive rookie season. Gant (drove for Jack Beebe mostly) recorded: 25/31 races, five top-10's, one pole (Pocono #2), and 29 laps led. The class is the only class where two of the drivers have at least two championships (Earnhardt-7, Labonte-2). The class is the only class that has two drivers that have won four consecutive races (Earnhardt '87, Gant '91). The class combined to win 116 races. Unfortunately after an outstanding rookie season, Millikan's owner L.G. DeWitt pulled out of NASCAR early in 1980 after losing sponsor Appliance Wheels. After starting all 31 races in 1979, Millikan would only start 47 more races recording five top-5's and 18 top 10's. Their last race together was at Martinsville in 1980 after finishing 5th in the race. That would be a tough pill to swallow. Millikan wouldn't race again until the last three races of the season racing for Rahmoc and he finished 7th at Ontario. He would start in 12 races for Rahmoc in 1981 recording five top-10's for them. And then he would race for Cliff Stewart for the last 11 races of the season recording four top-10's and three top-5's. He would race for Stewart in the first six races of the season in 1982 recording two top-10's, his last being a 6th place finish at Rockingham. Geoff Bodine took over his ride after that for that year. Bodine had four top-5's, ten top-10's, and two poles. Custer, Bell, Reddick, and JHN all have a good chance at being stars. Reddick has more talent in his pinky finger than A. Dillon does in his whole body. 210. I missed so many races. I only saw 2012 Michigan and 2015, so going into 2018, I really never saw my guy win. I might've stopped watching, but my time as Redskins fan has taught me that the wins will come, you just have to wait. It's why when Chase won at Watkins Glen I was so excited. Stick with Custer and he'll be able to get some more wins 211. Same with Ryan Preece, Bubba Wallace, Daniel Suarez, and to an extent Ty Dillon. Years of being a biffle fan took its toll (I missed Michigan 2013). It's crazy to think that all the drivers I rooted for back in the old k&n pro series and arca are now driving (and winning) in the cup series. 212. The #41, #17, and #6 teams are all tied with 321 points. The #47 is one point behind at 320. (Obviously, the driver points mirror this except for the #6 team.) Aside from the two Roush teams being tied, the two RCR teams are just 17 points apart, the two Front Row teams are just 6 points apart, and all three Penske teams are separated by just 23 points. Meanwhile, one of the largest differences is with JTG-Daugherty Racing, where Stenhouse has accumulated nearly twice as many points as Preece. 213. rateus posted: 11.13.2020 - 5:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) As it turned out, these were the only 5 laps Custer led all year - way to make 'em count! 214. 34McDowellFan posted: 02.14.2021 - 7:26 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) This is the only Cup Series race where Aric Almirola has led more than 100 laps ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
