The Lone Star State's government is allowing 50% capacity. 2. 52 posted: 07.14.2020 - 8:53 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @1 Great to see fans at the track! Hope we'll be at 100% capacity real soon. 3. Dion posted: 07.14.2020 - 12:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Vic Keller actually entered a No. 90 car for the race, but since it's a brand new team it had no owner points and DNQ. Keller is a businessman and sponsored Rick Ware Racing and a few other teams over the years. I never saw what the team was named, but the crew chief was actually listed as Tommy Baldwin, which is surprising since Tommy Baldwin is entering one of his cars in the race. The entry list had the car listed as a 2019 Chevrolet with sponsorship from Axele. Will be interesting to learn more about the team and their plans for the season. 4. ScottB posted: 07.14.2020 - 12:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I hope the move to allow fans back at this event doesn't end badly. 50% of capacity is still a lot of people in one place. 5. Jimmie4life posted: 07.14.2020 - 12:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) Texas, California, and Florida should not allow 50% capacity at any event because they get 10000 cases a day. 50% capacity(Which I don't expect at this track) is 90,000 attendees. Even 1/4 capacity is still 45,000 people. That's about what you'd get at an MLB game. It could cause Covid concerns because of how fast it's spreading in Texas. Why can't we be like Europe? 6. Jimmie4life posted: 07.14.2020 - 12:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) @2 They should not ever get back to 100%. It's way too dangerous. 7. Vic Keller is an investor in Rick Ware Racing,as well as a business man who owns Axele and some other companies which usually sponsor the Rick Ware team. 8. Jimmie4life posted: 07.14.2020 - 1:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'm guessing the #7 car will be Josh Bilicki because he's run the last 3 races for Tommy Baldwin, and run 5 of 9 starts. 9. Were there rumblings of this team that I overlooked posted somewhere? Seems to me like it came out of left field, but it's always good to see more teams even rumored to enter the series. 10. Zach Keller, Vic's son, races late models (primarily for RWR) and is hopefully going to make the slow jump to the Cup series for Vic's team with RWR support. 14. Mile501 posted: 07.16.2020 - 3:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Aric Almirola has drawn the pole for this race. In 10 qualifying draws so far, he has ranked among the top 12 in points in 8 of them. In all 8 of those drawings, Almirola has drawn a top 6 starting spot (within the top half of possible spots). The probability of that happening 8 times in a row is 1/256. Brad Keselowski has also drawn a top 6 starting spot 8 times, but he has ranked among the top 12 in all 10 races with a qualifying draw. 15. 52 posted: 07.16.2020 - 3:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) RWR affiliates, they're multiplying. Mile501 posted: 07.16.2020 - 5:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @16 - Christopher Bell (who is arguably among the top 24 drivers this year but had a rough start to the season) has drawn a starting spot between 32nd and 36th in 8 of the 10 qualifying draws. Fortunately for him, he continues to move up after 3 top 10 finishes in the last 6 races, and he is now just 11 points away from being inside the top 24 for the first time. He'll be looking to gain 12-13 points on the #41, #17, #6, or #47 at Texas. All 4 of those teams are nearly tied ahead of him, and he only needs to make a significant gain on one of them in order to finally break into the top 24. 20. The trucks I bet another track might be racing twice for them too after Kansas already got two. I am very curious about what they're do and also if they do it its gonna be playoff races too. 32. They weren't really competitive for wins at that time either as a whole. From 2000-2011 they were more known for having success at short tracks and had a little restrictor plate success. I believe their best chance was at the first Atlanta race (Cracker Barrel 500) in 2000, but Mike Skinner blew up while leading late in the race giving way to a showdown between Dale Earnhardt and Bobby Labonte. @205 @207 Right on. Before the caution came out for Houff's miscue it was going to be Logano, Harvick, or Busch's race because they were just going to pit for fuel. It was going to depend on who was going to have the better pit stop and who got on and off pit road the best which I believe is wonderful at deciding an outcome of a race where it tests driver skill. They were right to pit for fuel and tires on lap 245 to set them up for a gas and go at the end of the race. After Blaney pitted for tires under green and Hamlin pitted for two tires they were still able to keep them a lap down up until the Houff crash. There wasn't a big drop off in tires. I know hindsight is 20/20, however, those three should have taken gas only or two tires and gas. I'm sure they didn't think some would just do gas or two tires, but it was the only chance those guys at RCR would have at winning. Kudos to them for taking a chance. Logano and Harvick both insinuated that they felt they got beat by slower cars. The biggest problem was the 18, 22, and 4 kept racing each other hard and the two from RCR get away. The 4 had a problem of having to restart on the bottom continuously until the last restart. Those guys blew this race. No if, ands, buts about it. @191 Yeah, unfortunately he only had four tries at it. As for Dillon and RCR winning it's refreshing. It seems that since Childress started as an independent he has held on tight to stay in the sport. Often times it looked bleak and like he should get out of the sport or sell his team. He was fortunate that Dale Earnhardt was loyal to him during times when they weren't competitive as they should have been. He's experienced the ultimate highs, the ultimate lows and everything in between as well as one of the most tragic things you can experience in life while in the sport. He's a survivor in life and in the sport. I also find it amusing that people still believe that Dillon should have checked up when Aric Almirola blocked him on the last lap of the Daytona 500. You can't block like that and expect good things to happen. Of course he got spun out, he blocked! As Brad Keselowski said, "I'm not lifting anymore." That race you do not check up on the last lap. 228. Almirola +107 12. KuBusch +106 13. KyBusch +93 14. Dibenedetto +49 15. Bowyer +34 16. Johnson -- 17. Byron -2 18. Reddick -14 19. Jones -24 20. Wallace -76 Currently, it's a tight battle between Johnson, Byron, Reddick, and Jones for the last spot. If any one of them wins, the others will be in a position where they almost have to win in order to make it. And the fact that we continue to talk about drivers who are battling for 16th proves that NASCAR's playoff system is accomplishing its purpose even for those of us who don't like it. 236. As of right know, Cole Custer is still the only driver outside the Top 16 with a win. Jimmie Johnson, who once had a 63 point cushion in the playoffs has seen that plummet to only to just two. It has dropped through a combination of Custer and Dillon winning, Jimmie missing Ondy and bad lick on the other races he's been in. 242. Scott Miller: "I think nobody could argue that it was a very poor decision. Yes, we do review every incident of every race. We didn't speak to the driver (Sunday) night, but we will before we get going again at Kansas (on Thursday night). Got to do better than that. Racing incident, things are going to happen. Every decision that is made out on the racetrack is an instantaneous, spur-of-the-moment decision, but I think that nobody could argue that wasn't a poor one." 248. That's where drivers can get familiar with getting on and off pit road from green flag speeds. That affects all drivers of course, but it's logical to think that the least experienced drivers would be hurt the most. Houff had run Texas once before in Cup and once before in Xfinity, so he wasn't a total stranger to the track. But his overall seat time is very low to be running at this level. Honestly, I'm just curious to know all the factors that led up to that. Not trying to be harsh on Houff, but it should be reviewed. 257.
