I remember the days finishing a top 5 was a win back in the RCR days. 55 wins is absolutely incredible. Imagine how many he'd have if got back some of those races he lost early in his career. 70+ at least. But 6 wins, 15 top 5s and 19 top 10s in 22 races. Let's see how next weekend goes for him. If it weren't for the tire issue at Homestead, he'd probably not finish out of the top 15. 125. joey2448 posted: 08.09.2020 - 7:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I retract my statement from @122. Harvick needs to keep it up this year and I really hope he does so the season can be as legendary as Jeff Gordon's 1998 and Dale Earnhardt's 1987 seasons. Quite honestly, third times a charm? Harvick has been known to have lucky 3's because of who he replaced after a tragic death, he may very well end up with 30 Top 10's this season. People only look at Gordon's 2007 season because of the number "30." 1998 blows 2007 out of the water in every aspect. But he's only got 1 championship thanks to the playoff format. In fact, Kevin would likely have at least 3 titles without the playoffs (he won by a lot in 2010, 2015 & 2016.) He's well on his way to a 4th in that system. No way will he win 4 titles with this joke of a championship format before he retires, but he's at least got a good shot at one or two more with Phoenix as the finale both this year and next. Maybe if you looked beyond the scope of just "wins" like most fans tend to only focus on, maybe you'll understand what we're saying. 172. Anyways, I said alot more than just wins. Harvick won't get 17 straight top 5's or the 29 top 5's in 36 races since Jeff had 26 top 5's in 33 races. This is a great year but not a 1987 or 1998 season. 177. It would be fun to see all the lead lap cars in one lane, and the lap-down all lined up in the other fighting for the lucky dog (and, of course, it would prove neither the double file restart or the chose-cone gimmick are needed). 181. We saw a little of that at Michigan. I think it will take longer than one weekend for teams to get the guts to go for it, but I think they will. If you are a car running 15th all day and you get to start 4th, it's worth the gamble. 182. Corey posted: 08.10.2020 - 7:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @181 That's not even a gamble. If you're 15th, and one of your choices is 4th. Then your other choice is could be as low as 25th. Even if you lose 5 spots on the restart, you're still 9th and 6 spots ahead from where you were. Who's to say you're going to make up those 10 spots by starting in the preferred lane. 183. It looks like Kes will be the one to challenge the Harvick/Hamlin dominance, if anyone can. 185. That's pretty crazy. Toyota almost has 3x the wins, as well. The performance of the Camaro looked a little better at the start of this year, but NASCAR's rule change after Charlotte has hurt their performance. In the first 8 races, Chevrolet had 2 wins, Ford had 4 & Toyota had 2. In the last 14 races, Chevrolet has 1 win, Ford has 9 & Toyota has 4. Chevy is on pace for 5 wins this season. They had 4 in 2018 and 7 last year. They're averaging 5.4 wins per 36 races with the Camaro. There's no reason to think that won't continue for another year, at least, until the Gen-7 car is released. Maybe then Chevrolet can finally get on equal footing. The 4 "lost" years for Chevy are unfortunate because they've decreased the early-career success of drivers like Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Austin Dillon, William Byron & Tyler Reddick, while also making the end of Jimmie Johnson's career very difficult. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
