David Starr returns to the Cup Series with MBM Motorsports in the #66 Cody Ware originally wasn't going to run this race due to his planned Indianapolis 500 attempt, however, the Indy 500 deal fell apart and Ware is indeed running this weekend. Ware will drive the #53 instead of his typical 51 however. 2. Would have preferred Elliott or Byron doing so though, since Larson's is (still) a controversial figure to some (if not many). Also, something something bad package. (I mean, passing was so few and far in-between during the race I thought this was some 2000 New Hampshire-style wire-to-wire lead for Larson...) 3. At least they only race here once a year now instead of twice. As a HMS fan, I'd prefer the team as a whole be peaking in October/November when it matters, instead of in May when it doesn't. Call it a hunch, but I'm pretty sure that by September the trends ["who's hot/who's not"] are going to be considerably different than they are now. 4. SHR was the biggest beneficiaries of NASCAR's "New Camaro" Chevy Smackdown in '18, and now that things are back to normal SHR are the ones who have vanished from contention, every bit as suddenly as they vaulted into contention 3 seasons ago. Maybe they never were that good and KuBu, Bowyer & Aric were way over their heads that year amidst the team's general euphoria over Danica being gone, and it was simply the case that somebody had to fill the void which was created & they were the next-best team who wasn't already dominating. 5. To further prove your point, 25 cars finished within 4 positions of where they qualified. Not counting 3 top starters who encountered trouble (Truex, Chastain, Busch), that gives us 71% of the remaining 35 cars that finished very close to where they started. In this race 20 years ago, just 8 of 43 cars finished within 4 positions of where they started. And half the field finished 15+ positions away from where they started! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
