.5 Mile Dirt Oval located within the Merced County Fairgrounds, rebuilt
to a .375 oval in 1991, the track still remains active. The single race
for NASCAR was run in 1956 won by Herb Thomas.

This place still runs a weekly program, but I think it's a 1/4 mile now.
Great track for Modifieds and hobby stocks.

The USGS 1962 map matches up with the current track pictured on Google
Maps. Same place for sure. Having two windows open with different
scales, it is hard to see about the size. Should be easy to figure out
on the ground.

In the 1946 aerial view there was what appears to be a horse track on
the same site, though it was set at a completely different angle from
the later auto track. The 1958 and 1999 aerials (with none in between)
show basically identical short auto racing tracks
