It was a 5/8 mile egg shaped oval with 45 degrees of banking in one turn, and 62 degrees in the other. It was active from 1946 to 1955, and had a few different configurations, including a 5/8 oval with paved straights and dirt corners, and a paved 1/4 oval. 2. joey2448 posted: 06.17.2011 - 4:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 62 degrees of banking??? The front, turns 1 and 2. The rest is on the neighboring map sheet. I will see it that is available. The track was oriented SW-NE with 1 and 2 near East 14th St. It looks like it was lined up pretty much with the outline of the main mall (minus Target). Yep, 156th (continuation in my mind) shoots right down the middle 3 and 4 and out of the turn #1. You can see turn 4 around to the middle of the back straight on the 1948 San Leandro map. Definitely Darlington shaped. Shared 3 and 4 with an inner track. You can line things up with the current Google Maps and those two maps above. Use Halcyon Dr (extended), 156th, and the ditch between Thorally and Bayfair Dr. Side note, these turns probably really were 45 and 62 degrees at the outermost part. It looks like the banking was variable and pretty much transitioned into a sort of wall. If you have seen that Mercedes test track in germany you know what I mean. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
