In 2005 the CCWS cars famously went flying almost every time one went over the tracks. Thankfully this was repaired for the future runnings of the race. On the plus side the circuit did pass the city's Plaza de Cesar Chavez park. The CCWS replaced Laguna Seca with this race, a weird choice in retrospect but given time they would have reversed it. After the 2007 season the San Jose Grand Prix was to be discontinued because of new downtown developments that would have made continuing to use the course impossible, specifically a housing project alongside one of the straightaways and a construction project that took over the property used for the main grandstand. Champ Car planned a 2008 return to Laguna Seca to make up for it but it didn't come to pass after the IndyCar merger. 2. 23andJoe posted: 08.19.2016 - 4:14 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The track in 2007 was known as "Redback Raceway" due to a naming-rights deal with Redback Networks. 3. Champ Car was wild lol ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
