For some reason they are listed as two different tracks on this site, one shows Sprint Cup results and the other shows Nationwide results. The track will also be hosting a Whelen Southern Modified Tour race later this year (2010). 2. webmaster posted: 03.01.2010 - 3:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @TaylorM: Thanks for catching that error, and the data for both Sprint Cup & Nationwide Series is now shown on this page. 3. In November 1970, it became the site of the last Grand National race before the series was renamed Winston Cup (now Sprint Cup). The track is located in front of NASA's Langley wind tunnel on Armistead Avenue. Langley Speedway is a paved short track measuring 0.395 miles in length, it is one of the flattest tracks in the region with only 6 degrees of banking in the corners and 4 degrees on the straights.[1] The track is NASCAR sanctioned and participates in the Whelen All-American Series, which determines a national champion for the NASCAR sanctioned local tracks. The track currently hosts 11 divisions which alternate running during their Saturday night program: Late Models, Grand Stock, Modifieds, Legends cars, Super Street, UCAR, Pro Six, Super Trucks, HRKC Pro Winged Champ Karts, and Enduros. 4. However, the track name these results are listed under is up for debate as the track has not been called Langley 'Field' Speedway since the 1960s. When it first opened in 1950 it was briefly known as "Dude Ranch Speedway" and for a few years in the mid 1990s it was renamed "Langley Raceway" but for the majority of its 60 consecutive years of operation it has been, and is currently, known as Langley Speedway. In addition, all the Busch series races occurred under the Langley Speedway name as well as the Whelen Southern Modified Tour race that will take place at the track in September. 5. racerx @youtube posted: 06.21.2014 - 10:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) k & n there tonight just got home,.whew=.. hell of a night of racing ...my good buddy did it again (got to get my weekly fix of the action track), now i can make it thru the next 6 days.. thanks langley.. you are the long lost friend i always enjoy passing time with.... dont know what i would do without langley speedway my home and most treasured memories reside there, attended all busch races and all whelan ,all k & n met adam petty testing there,, had many a night of some love my dad and the top of his camper experiences there. gate man Duke Ozbourne used to let(not see me) slip in when i was too young, sold race fuel when i was 14 (drove the fuel truck to the track/no license..lol) 6. Hopefully they can reopen in time for the 2017 season. 7. Seibaru posted: 12.14.2016 - 8:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I dunno if this track has a future, sadly. The owner made a horrible blunder. Apparently he signed an agreement in late March saying he would not talk about the track's financial status, an NDA if you will. A few months later, he came forward and broke it, giving details about how much money he has invested in the track and how much money is needed to reopen it in the most lackadaisical manner, then noting his mistake with the line, direct quote, 'I guess I just broke it Robbie Parker. Everybody deserves to know where the deal is at this time.' (Robbie Parker raced at the track for a number of years, and the owner was responding to a post made by Parker, who I assume was asking where things were at). Now, I would have been on the owner's side if he only recently updated the public, as eight and a half months is a very long time without an update, and it's good to know where the track is at. However, he didn't make the update recently. Instead, he made the update in mid June. While NDAs are a pain, and the info they withhold is often something the public wants to know, you have to abide by them. Break them, and you're in trouble. Break them after just two months, and you clearly don't care about confidentiality, and are hence untrustworthy in the eyes of investors. Oh yeah, and his response to having broken it was unprofessional at best. So yeah, I think he may have screwed the pooch. Note that I may have misread the article, and the NDA may have actually been signed between January (his last update before the June one) and when he revealed that one had been signed in late March. It's still much too early a break to even be considered 'debatably justifiable' in the eyes of investors, and that response to having done so doesn't help. TL;DR: Langley owner broke NDA and doesn't seem to have given a crap 8. Probably won't ever happen, but it's a connection to the sport's roots. 11.
