The track hosts weekly NASCAR sanctioned races. Several touring series visit the track each year, including the Whelen Southern Modified Tour and the NASCAR Grand National Division. NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series teams frequently test at the track since testing is allowed only at non-current NASCAR tracks.[1] The Upper South Carolina State Fair has held at the track since 1964.[1] The track held 29 races on the NASCAR Grand National (now Sprint Cup) tour between 1951 until 1971. It also hosted two NASCAR Busch Grand National (now Nationwide Series) tour races in 1983. The April 10, 1971 race at Greenville-Pickens Speedway was the first NASCAR race nationally televised from start to finish. 2. Marty Ward going for #7 in 2011, finishing 2nd in both twin 50 opening night races. Greenville Pickens' rich history is still being played out. 3. joe posted: 04.26.2012 - 9:13 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) greenville pickens is a good track but the owner kevin whitaker is really not a good track promoter he picks his buddy drivers or favorites and lets them off with certain stuff suck as frame heights and EVEVN traction control 4. He was not a regular but did race in five or six SJAP at GPS in the 90's and a few at other tracks. We also ran in the America Challenge that was taken over by SJAP We took the car to Daytona to race at Volusia Speedway and made the field. He finished all but one of his enters in SJAP but his name don't show any where. I know for a fact because I was one of his crew members with Paul Morrow, and others. I still have some picture of us at race track. I know live out west trying to find info about my friend & driver. 8. markjeff531 posted: 12.06.2017 - 5:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) looks like the K&N Pro Series wont be heading to Greenville in 2018.
