.5 Mile Dirt Track. Hosted One Race.

Only 900 spectators watch Fireball Roberts wheel his Ford to victory in
the 100-mile NASCAR Grand National race at Newberry Speedway in South
Carolina. To this day, it remains the smallest trackside attendance in
NASCAR history.

Geez this was a hard one to find. Found a fairgrounds track on the USGS
Newberry East map from 1968. Supposedly the track closed in 1979 so how
many tracks could one small town have?

If you are good, like me...you can see some concrete sstands thru the trees.

It is just NW of the corner of Dixie (HWY 34) and Adelaide St.

@1 that record was beatem at darlington in 2020. 0 fans showed up to The
Real Heroes 500 on may 17th 2020.
