Hosted the United States Grand Prix in F1 from 2000-07.

A slightly-modified version of the track hosted the Indianapolis
Motorcycle Grand Prix from 2008-11, sanctioned by MotoGP.

13-year-old Peter Lenz was tragically killed during the warmup lap of
the 2010 edition of the Moto2 race (the second of the three races on the
card).

Track is located in Speedway, Indiana (which is an enclave entirely
surrounded by Indianapolis)

Track was constructed in the infield of the main IMS' oval specifically
the host the 2000 revival of the United States Grand Prix after F1's
nine-year absence from racing in the USA.

It was just announced this week that the MotoGP race will be dropped for
2016 as new sanctioning fees have really priced the track out of being a
viable site for the international series. There's rumors it will be
replaced by a sports car endurance race but we'll see what is coming
down the pike in the future.

This track will host the SCCA National Championship Runoffs for the
first time in 2017. The best amateur racers in America getting a shot at
Indy, did you ever think you'd see the day?

The Nascar Xfinity Series will be running this track during July 4th
Weekend next year.

It was announced today Xfinity will be running the 14 turn or IndyCar
road course.

#NASCAR: @IMS announces its @NASCAR_Xfinity race will be 62 laps.

The 14-turn course will be 2.439 miles in length.

Stage 1 will end at Lap 20
Stage 2 will end at Lap 40

Race will be known as Pennzoil 150

Race will be July 4 on @NBCSports

Xfinity will have two 55-minute practices Friday at Indy so they can
learn the road course for Saturday's race.

@IMS and @F1 share a "level of mutual interest" to bring the global
series back to the historic venue (potentially as soon as 2022), per
Mark Miles, and: "It's something that, when we get through the (Indy)
500, we'll turn our attention back to exploring."
