A slightly-modified version of the track hosted the Indianapolis Motorcycle Grand Prix from 2008-11, sanctioned by MotoGP. 13-year-old Peter Lenz was tragically killed during the warmup lap of the 2010 edition of the Moto2 race (the second of the three races on the card). 3. RaceFanX posted: 09.12.2015 - 6:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Track was constructed in the infield of the main IMS' oval specifically the host the 2000 revival of the United States Grand Prix after F1's nine-year absence from racing in the USA. It was just announced this week that the MotoGP race will be dropped for 2016 as new sanctioning fees have really priced the track out of being a viable site for the international series. There's rumors it will be replaced by a sports car endurance race but we'll see what is coming down the pike in the future. 5.
