This track has long since closed but the property and some of its
infrastructure are still in existence. The dirt surface appears to be
completely overgrown with grass now but the oval shape remains visible
according to Google Earth.

Not to be confused with the track in Perry, NY, which was originally
known as Perry Speedway and currently operates as Wyoming County
International Speedway.

I've lived near Hazard for 18 years and I never knew they use to have a
track.

You can find it at 37°18'19.6"N 83°15'16.7"W

Google Satellite has a pretty nice view of the former track with the
oval still visible. Looks like several concession or other buildings are
still standing along with some remnants of the grandstand.

The track must not have lasted long as it looks like in 1983 on historic
aerials it was under construction, and by 1995 on the historic view you
can tell it was already abandoned.

Seems to be a bit shorter, like probably many tracks. It's shaped like
Martinsville and the pole speed is what they would have run there at
that time.

Like, anyway, location and shape and all make this an interesting track

@5 - actually, it closed in 2004. I guess they weren't keeping the grass
cut or something if you think it looked abandoned in 1995.

The story goes that the two guys who owned the property had a
long-standing disagreement with each other, and eventually the track
promoter couldn't get them to cooperate long enough to renew the lease.

1983 or 1984 would be correct for the opening. Certainly they were
running in 84, dunno if they ran any races in 83.

I never figured I'd see this track on here neither did I think it
would've hosted an ARCA race. This is the closest track on RR to my home
and it's a shame that the track is completely overgrown now but the
owners always had some sort of bad blood with each other so it makes
sense...

A local tried to start a reopening campaign for the track a few years
ago but no one else got on board with the idea.
