Cooper posted: 03.25.2010 - 6:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Wall Township Speedway (aka Wall Stadium), is a 1/3 Mile Paved Oval race track in Wall Township, New Jersey. The track, opened to the public in the spring of 1950, and it operated through the 2007 racing season. The track, brought up racing stars Ray Evernham, Jr. and Martin Truex, Jr. Also, it hosted NASCAR Strictly Stock Series (now Sprint Cup) event in 1958. Well known drivers, races over the years Gil Hearne (eight time champion), John Blewett III, Jimmy Blewett (Two time champion), Jimmy Spencer (Garden State Classic winner), Tony Siscone (six time champion), Richie Evans, Charlie Jarzombek (Garden State Classic winner), to name a few. After the 2007 season, plans were iffy that the track will go on. Unfortunately, several employees were laid off from their positions. The dark conformation was announced on, March 14, 2008 that the track would be closed. After months of closure, the track was leased and reopened. The track is alive and ready to host the 2010 Season. Track known for hosting the yearly "Turkey Derby" http://www.wallspeedway.com/ 2.
