This track first opened in 1940 and is still in operation today,
although there have been a few breaks through the years. It has been
altered many times through the years, changing lengths and surfaces. It
was originally a dirt track, then was paved with asphalt, then had clay
put down over the asphalt, before finally all the clay and asphalt was
ripped up and it went back to dirt. The track was originally called
Zanesville Speedway but changed its name to Muskingum County Speedway in
1983.
