Cool tidbit, the original plans were for 3 ovals, the .5 mile circle everyone's familiar with, the .25 mile circle in its infield, and conventional-shaped .9 mile oval surrounding the .5 mile. While the .9 mile was grated and some walls installed, it was never finished. In fact, you can still see the unfinished product around the primary oval on Google Earth. http://www.adirondackspeedway.com/history.php 3. It's spawned a lot of one-liners the track announcer once said. Here's ones he mentioned" "Screamin' in New Bremen" "A man with a dream" and one I saw on their website: the almost mile", which refers to the .99 mile track. I never been to it, but I've been past the road it's on and down the roads beside that one. New Bremen, by the way's the name of the town it's in. That road course they planned's a 1.5 mile route. Btw, I tried to get a job there, but they had all they needed. For example, I took a web design class, so I thought I could work on their website, but that's done from outside. Another idea I had was maybe just sweeping up the stands. I couldn't work in the garage or anything. 5. racefangurl posted: 02.25.2021 - 5:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Last year there was a Stuck In The Muck event at this track that got too big and they got in trouble. Stuck In The Muck's tied in with the track as an ATV park on the property. Until last year, this track had non-NASCAR events of different kinds. They said stuff about snowmobile races and I believe demolition derbies. Somebody suggested SuperModifieds, but I'm unsure if that went beyond the idea stage. On RaceNewYork forum, they mentioned a Slush Crush. Their FB mentions Enduro and a March Metal Mashup. The latter, a demo derby based on the name, will be their last fanless event, unless plans have to change. The plan atm's to have some fans after April. I'm still a race fan, just non-NASCAR, regional NASCAR series/ARCA and pre-COTA on the schedule NASCAR (2020 and before). I assume the regional series and ARCA don't go to COTA. Regional NASCAR's like the East series that raced at this track when I was younger. I was 12 when the NASCAR East series first came to this track and 20 when it (the track) closed for a few years. 6. possum posted: 02.25.2021 - 7:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @5 - AIS looks to be a pretty good shorttrack - I looked at some of their rules, and they seem to have a good mix of classes. Slush Crush looks to be an enduro event. If I'm not mistaken, the ISMA supermodifieds ran AIS back in the early years of this century. 7. racefangurl posted: 02.26.2021 - 7:19 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 6, somebody mentioned them (supermods) in 2013, when they were about to reopen or maybe shortly after the reopening. When the track was newer, all I knew was the location and their ads "There'll be screamin' in New Bremen" and such. "Screamin' in New Bremen" was tied in with my earliest real awareness of the track, as I learned that from something posted on my dentist's bulletin board which is how I learned of "The Showplace of The North" as they called the reopened track on TV. As I said in 4, this is a local track to me and as an adolescent or very close*, when it first opened, I could pick up on their radio and TV ads. I had horseback riding lessons and the station playing on the radio in the barn played their ads, as I recall. I don't listen to that station much, as I like only a few of the songs they play, but for all I know they might still advertise the track during race season. Maybe in a more normal world, the almost mile oval and 1.5 mile road course will be finished. I'm a fan of this track and would go if I could. Not a job seeker now, but I'd reach out to the track again if I was. I could work the lights, be an official, take tickets or sweep the stands when the fans come back, same things as I could do when I was a job seeker. My county has less corona than many of the counties it bumps, so I'm less timid of places and doing things in my county, which is where this track is. I know how to get to the road it's on and which end of the road it's on, so I could direct someone there. *It was just a few months before my 12th birthday when this track was complete as it as now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
