This classic Minnesota road course has hosted racing for everything from
Can-Am to ASA stock cars since it first opened in 1968. The track
includes both a road course and a drag strip. At 3.1 miles in length it
is one of the longest road courses in United States (the only longer
ones I can think of are Road America, Watkins Glen when using the boot
section, and Sebring).

There's two course lengths at Brainerd. The "traditional", Donnybrooke
International Raceway course is 3.1 miles and 10 turns. In 2009, a 2.5
mile, 13-turn "Competition Course" was opened.

The ASA stock cars rarely ran road course races but the tour popped by a
trio of events here in 1993, 1994, and 1995. This was the next to last
road course the ASA series ever raced on (Heartland Park Topeka was the
last) as the series dropped all road courses from its schedule after 1995.

Other then adding the new road course section, the old version has
stayed pretty much the same when they use it. Other then the a small
kink at turn 9 for super bikes.

Track owner and occasional competitor Jed Copham, who with his wife
became the owner of Brainerd Int'l Raceway, died yesterday in a boating
accident off the Florida coast. His body was found this morning.
