The end is coming for this track. It is in the process of being sold and
once it is this speedway will be torn down to make room for new
commercial developments on its property including a hotel, retail
businesses, and an ice arena.

"With a development deal stalled with the property at Yakima Speedway,
former track manager Ron Bennett of Ellensburg and Yakima business owner
Doug Bettarel made a verbal agreement on Friday to lease the half-mile
oval and return racing by July.

The Yakima Speedway has been closed this season with no racing,
including the cancellation of the annual Apple Cup last month, pending
the final details of an offer made late last year by a local group of
investors to purchase the 46-acre property from owner Ted Pollock."
