The Augusta International Raceway is a multi-use motorsports facility
located in Hephzibah, Georgia (just south of Augusta).

1/2 Mile Oval. Dirt up until 1964. Then Asphalt.

Closed in 1970. Fireball Roberts was a third of the ownership for the
track and complex surrounding it, and his passing in 1964 was a big part
of the tracks eventual decline, despite running a dozen races in an
eight year stretch.

As far as I'm aware, while the two tracks were in the same Motorsports
complex, they went under different names. The 1/2 mile track used
Augusta Speedway, while the 3 mile road course went under Augusta
International Raceway. The oval, along with the drag strip, was built
about a year before the road course.
