Fireball Roberts was a third of the ownership for the track and complex surrounding it, and his passing in 1964 was a big part of the tracks eventual decline, despite running a dozen races in an eight year stretch. 3. The 1/2 mile track used Augusta Speedway, while the 3 mile road course went under Augusta International Raceway.
