Desoto was just recently purchased from YouTube Automotive Personality
Garrett Mitchell (aka Cleetus McFarland). The track is now renamed
Freedom Factory. Prior to the purchase the track sat abandoned since May
2017, now is set to reopen November 2020 for Cleetus & Cars
Championship. Garrett is interested in hosting short track racing at the
circuit again if the right opportunity arises. I'm willing to bet this
track will be mostly used for drifting and Cleetus and Cars events.

The Freedom Factory, as it is now known, will be hosting its first race
this Friday night. The Freedom 500, which is a somewhat misleading name
as it will actually be 100 laps, is a closed door PPV event. The YT
celebrity race will feature 21 stock Crown Vics equipped with roll cages
and a small bottle of Nitrous. The rigs set up essentially make it a
push to pass feature. There will be a small medical and production team
only on hand.

I'm surprised they're having a race with everything that's going on
right now. Doesn't seem smart.

UPDATE: The race has been moved to Thursday night at 9 PM EST due to new
orders going into effect for Florida.

@4 I'm on the fence about it happening, but they are taking a lot of
precautions to follow the social distancing requirements. Drivers
included, there will be about 30 people on 64 acres of property. That is
much better than most stores that you can go to right now, many that
aren't actually essential.

There have been soccer matches in Europe with small crowds. No outbreak.
There have been dirt races in PA. No outbreak. This whole situation is
being overblown so much it's frustrating to see the low IQ crowd (the
majority of the population these days sadly) fall for it.

Everything will be just fine. Props to DeSoto for having the logic and
awareness to continue on.

Cleetus McFarland (Garrett Mitchell) wins the First Annual Freedom 500
at the Freedom Factory over Adam Lz. I do have the full finishing order
if R-R wants to post this race on the Desoto Speedway page. First race
at the track since May 2017.

Really unfortunate to see this track fall into hands that obviously see
circle track racing as a joke. Has far as I'm concerned, you can
consider Desoto a lost speedway

Yeah, I much preferred that it sit idle with weeds growing up through
the surface.

What are you talking about #8. Garrett has stated when he bought the
track he is looking for a promoter that can get together a good car
count and run weekly oval races at The Freedom Factory.

As far as I'm concerned we need more people like Garrett to revive old
worn down tracks or tracks that have low attendance and pump new life
into them and get the younger generation into Motorsports. Theres more
than one way to use a short track than just for short track stock car
racing..
