Newport Speedway, .5 Mile Dirt.
Track is now a 4/10 mile, high banked, asphalt oval, hosting Late Model
and Modified Races.

The Newport Speedway which is currently being operated is NOT the same
as the track which hosted NASCAR races in the 50's. The
Tennessee-Carolina Speedway which is now closed, sits on the Cocke
County Fairgrounds and the ruins of turns 1 and 2, along with the
grandstands are still there.

South and east of the Cooke County Fair one can still see the outline of
the oval in the woods. Much of the infield is still open and part of the
fair. Historic aerials for this area only goes back to 1983. I can't see
much sign of original bleachers on modern satellite views.

In what was the infield of the track there is an area with bleachers for
what looks like tractor pulls, and also a little oval about 1/9 of a
mile that I suppose could be for kart races.
