This course laid out on the streets of Savannah played host to the first
running of the American Grand Prize, the forerunner to the United States
Grand Prix, in 1908. There was no Grand Prize in 1909 but it hosted the
race again in 1910 and 1911. Racing here was abandoned after the track
hosted the 1911 Vanderbilt Cup and the Grand Prize races.
