Valdosta 75 Speedway.
1/2 Mile Dirt Oval. Track closed in 1966. Track was located off near the
I-75. A total of 3 NASCAR races were run in 1962 and 64/65.

Correct name of this track is "Valdosta 75 Speedway".

Well this was tougher than I thought it would be. I saw an oval shape
that was different from its surroundings. Matching it up with the 1977
map I happened to notice what must be the right place. Not where I was
looking.

It is another of those ovals inside another oval.

Looking on Google Maps you can even still see the track outline in the
farmer's field.

Look on Race Track Rd SE between Madison Hwy and I75. Ghost track is
easy to see. Is this the right place?

This track is not on the 1961 map. It is on the 77 map. GN races were
from 62 to 65 and word is the track closed in 66. Short of talking to an
old timer from teh area, I think this is as good as we can do.

3 If you go to Google Earth and go as far back as 1993 by clicking on
"1993" in the bottom left corner of the imagery, the 1993 imagery shows
an east-west oriented track outline in black and white, just north of
Race Track Road between SR 31/Madison Hwy and I-75. This is the correct
location.

Yes, it is still quite visible in 1993 on Race Track Road in historic
aerials. Strange that for a somewhat major city like Valdosta, there is
no aerial imagery between 1952 and 1993 on historic aerials.

If it weren't for the dirt "Race Track Road" one would have absolutely
no idea that a track was here, and even around late enough for Cale
Yarborough to win his first race.
