The scenic 16-turn track features many grass areas for spectators to watch from although there is unusually no seating near the start/finish line. The track was built by George Barber of Barber Diaries, a former racer. The grounds at Barber are spectacular featuring 41 sculptures including many quirky ones like a zombie emerging from a pond, dinosaurs, a recreation of Stonehenge, and several larger than life insects like a trio of ants that carry a giant bottle of Coca-Cola, a motorcycle, and its rider. The most famous sculpture is a giant spider that overlooks the track at Turns 5 and 6 leading to that area being nicknamed "Charlotte's Web" after the classic children's novel by E.B. White. The property is also home to the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. The collection includes more than 1,400 motorcycles and cars. It has the largest collection of motorcycles of any museum in the world. Many of the vehicles are from Mr. Barber's personal collection. 2. Barber has great racing for formula cars and sports cars, the cars it was built for. Bring in the overweight, under-tired Cup cars and you'd tear up the pavement, and NASCAR would insist on taking out all the gravel traps (because cautions to get cars out of the gravel are bad for TV) and putting in pavement so the NASCAR drivers can go way way outside the track taking the turns (because actually making a track hard to drive goes against NASCAR's philosophy). I sincerely hope no-one ever suggests Cup cars at Barber. 4. (The original extension was 2020 through 2022 but because of the 2020 race being cancelled it has now been shifted to 2023.) 5. IndyCar now has 9 races slated for NBC this year. 7. RaceFanX posted: 04.18.2021 - 3:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) There are two waterfalls located on the Barber property. One of them is located near the pedestrian bridge connecting the track to the car museum. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
