A completely unremarkable half-mile dirt track (not even warranting a
Wikipedia page!) except perhaps for the fact that it is ID #1 at this
site...

Traditional 1/2 Mile dirt oval in Montgomery, Alabama. One race in 1956.
Track was then not needed after other tracks in Alabama and the
Montgomery area took full charge. Closed in 1956.

The only cup event had a sparse crowd of 2,000. The promotors lost money
on the event and the track closed shortly thereafter

Geez guys, help me out here.....

I found Chiz raceway in ten minutes.

Look on the Montgomery AL USGS map from 1958. Their is a
neighborhood/suburb name Chisholm. There is a racetrack there.

I am going with the track being one lot east of Chisholm School which
has not changed its footprint much since 58. Vandiver Dr on the south,
quarry on the NW and through the giraffe enclosure. Huh? Yeah....most of
the track is now under the Montgomery Zoo!

In my quest to walk every current and former track I thought this was
going to be too hard. I looked very very close at Google Earth and guess
what....it looks like the track outline is intact. The walkways seem to
follow the track fairly closely.

If you follow this guide:

and enter at the mail gate, go to the Overlook Cafe, then the Cheetahs
in the 4th turn, then down the front stretch to the Elephants and then
hard into the pony rides in the 2nd turn, hard on the gas at the tigers
and back to the entrance..you made a lap.

If you are really good you can hit the real front stretch by getting
chaperoned down between the animal pens between Africa and Asia.
