While the track shut down in 2005 the land where it stands has yet to be fully redeveloped; a housing complex has been built alongside it (on "Race Track Road") but the track was "saved" when the 2008 financial crisis wiped out any further development on the Schultz Creek project that took over the area. Since it wasn't demolished the track sat abandoned with local troublemakers breaking in vandalizing all of it. Pavement was ripped up, debris strewn everywhere, everything wound up covered in graffiti, and much of the press box and grandstand collapsed or was torn down. A mobile home next to the track was also destroyed to an incredible degree. The land was cleaned up in 2009, apparently after a bank may have taken over the property, with all of the heavily vandalized areas being torn down. Today nothing remains here but the track surface which has been left to rot as nature slowly reclaims it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
