What a shame 5. Tylor Thaber posted: 11.22.2015 - 5:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Recently purchased. Racing will continue under the new name, 'Utah Motorsports Campus'. 6. According to the site, Utah Motorsports Campus is holding a doubleheader. Well, hopefully it'll make up for Phoenix's removal. 7. Utah Motorsports Campus, formerly Miller Motorsports Park, is a massive facility in Tooele, Utah, containing a road course, along with I believe a motocross track and karting layout. Its main road course has four layouts, the longest of which measures in at a bit under 4.5 miles, making it the second longest road course in the nation (Thunderhill's full course is a tenth longer). The track, which once saw ALMS and RSCS, along with I think either MotoGP or World Superbike, has run into hard times, and seemed set to close in 2015, but thankfully that didn't happen. We'll have to see exactly what the future has in store, as it currently sees Trans Am, NASCAR West and Pirelli World Challenge. 8. RaceFanX posted: 11.06.2018 - 10:10 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) This track was built in 2005 and opened in early 2006. The Tooele County government acquired the track from the previously titular Miller family in 2015 and just sold the track in 2018 to Chinese automobile manufacturer Geely. The Geely sale makes the Tooele track the first major, non-private American auto racing facility to be owned by a foreign company. 10. JSPorts posted: 11.06.2018 - 11:05 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Looks like there hasn't been racing here in 2 years. Hopefully this new ownership group pushes to get the track a race in the top 3 series of NASCAR. Utah would be a good market to try to expand into. The more states we can hit, the better. 13. Wondering if this track could return on the bike side of things too, didn't the AMA/WSBK gys run here a few times? Seem to remember that. I'd rather see sports cars here personally IMHO. No way NASCAR adds this track before the contracts are up with the existing tracks, plus it's not SMI/ISC owned so I feel that'd hurt its chances. 14. JSPorts posted: 11.06.2018 - 2:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well yeah, nothing's getting added until 2020. I'd ideally like to see this track host a KNPSW race and a WSCC race to start out with (of the series I follow, I don't really follow bikes, so idk if that would be a good place for them to go or not.) Then they could try to grow from there. Maybe get a Truck race in the next contract with NASCAR. 15. RaceFanX posted: 11.06.2018 - 3:13 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) This track still hosts high level races, the Pirelli World Challenge has a round here annually. 16. Still I'm glad it's back, always loved this track. 19. boreddude101010 posted: 11.15.2020 - 7:40 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Anybody else think this venue would be a good fit for IndyCar? Some of the best facilities of any racetrack out there, right with ISC/SMI faciltiies. IndyCar and/or NASCAR Truck Series would be a good fit (they could use a 2nd or 3rd road course in Trucks) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
