Currently the Moto GP in Qatar was cancelled after the Qatari government placed restrictions of travel from Italy. The Thai government have also cancelled the Moto GP round in Thailand even though, no travel restrictions have not been put in place. Australia currently has no restrictions on individuals from Italy, however with Ferrari and Alpha Centauri being based there, it is possible that not all teams will make it should restrictions be enforced. The race is set for March 15th and falls within the 14 day quarantine that countries have been enacting. 5. They have been found to have fever lsymptoms and have been tested for coronavirus. Just waiting on the test results. 6. This came after one of their team members tested positive for coronavirus. 10. JSPorts posted: 03.12.2020 - 8:52 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) That person is already in quarantine. Have the rest of the team tested, quarantine everyone until you have results, and then keep going with the personnel who are unaffected. Pulling out of the race altogether is a bit of an overreaction. 11. A.J. posted: 03.12.2020 - 9:15 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) You're correct, and surely the rest of the team HAS been tested (why wouldn't they be?). It's almost as if "capitulate to panic" and "virtue signal" were higher up on the list of available options than "just quarantine the guy". 12. The situation devolved after a McLaren team member tested positive for the virus overnight. 13. Canadianfan posted: 03.12.2020 - 6:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The BBC is reporting that Vettel and Raikkonen flew home this morning. A photo of the passenger manifest from their flight. So apparently as well late last night there was a meeting between the teams and the vote was 5-5 about whether to race on not. This was before McLaren withdrew. There is still no official word from the FIA but there are several tweets saying teams are showing up to pack up. 14. Corey posted: 03.12.2020 - 6:24 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @13 I just watched a video on SkySports and they are reporting the Australian Grand Prix will not run. I doubt Bahrain or Vietnam will run as well. 15. Or several million bucks. A complete shambles. From Philip Horton: Teams at the paddock gates as curfew ends: Alfa Romeo, Haas, Racing Point, Williams, AlphaTauri. No sign of the other five teams. (Red Bull also showed up.) Overnight vote was split 5-5 on wanting to race. Understand that Daimler then made the call, removing Mercedes & customers. Left only the Red Bull teams. No Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault, McLaren of course. 16. That can't be right and I thought it had already been cancelled -- if you're not going to race in Australia, what sense would it make to race at Ground Zero? 17. Canadianfan posted: 03.12.2020 - 6:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @16 China was officially postponed not canceled. They are somehow hoping to run it later on this year. As for the website someone definitely dropped the ball there. 18. But other than that or from the local authourities the FIA cannot cancel because there are too many commercial agreements that in cancelling the liability would come back to us? 20. Canadianfan posted: 03.12.2020 - 7:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) From Formula 1: Formula 1 and the FIA, with the full support of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC), have taken the decision that all Formula 1 activity for the Australian Grand Prix is cancelled. 22. 34McDowellFan posted: 03.12.2020 - 8:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Don't know where to post this, but apparently the F1 season might not start until Baku in June. That'd mean no Australlia and China (already confirmed), as well as no Bahrain, Vietnam, Netherlands, Spain, and Monaco. But there's also supposedly no summer break, so 2-3 of those races could be rescheduled. All of that is unofficial of course. F1 was slated to have a historic 22 races in 2020. Now it appears that the season is just going to keep getting shorter and shorter. 23. RaceFanX posted: 03.12.2020 - 11:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) All track activity for this weekend has been cancelled, including the Supercars races. Some practices had already been held with Macauley Jones crashing hard after a brake failure. The Supercars are looking to schedule another event later this year to make up for it. 24. As of now, the first scheduled race is the Azerbaijan GP in June. 26. The Haas driver revealed his Ferrari rival Sebastian Vettel told him the race was off in a WhatsApp chat early on Friday morning, several hours before it was confirmed. ?The rumours started happening on Thursday evening,? said Grosjean in an interview with Kym Illman. ?Thursday into Friday I didn't sleep very well. At 3am I was WhatsApp-ing with Sebastian Vettel. ?I was like ?where are you, why are you awake?' and he's like ?I'm going to the airport.' He was like ?it's cancelled, it's not happening'. I said I haven't heard anything official so I stay around. ?He said ?my team has told me that I'm free to go so I'm gone'. So like 3, 4am on Friday morning in Melbourne time that's when I knew things were going to not look right.? For those wondering why Grosjean and Vettel would be texting they are both Directors of the Grand Prix Drivers Association. Alexander Wurz is also a Director and Chairman. 27. (ie for 2022.) (It will be resurfaced for the first time since 1995. They are also looking at making some modifications to corners to improve the quality of the racing.) 28. Many racing sites talking about it but not officially announced as of yet. 29. Canadianfan posted: 02.18.2021 - 5:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Work on the track will commence next week. This will include widening the pit lane by 2 m. This will lead to the removal of the grass strip on the right hand side of the frontstretch. Multiple parts of the circuit will be resurfaced including T1, T2, T3, T6, T9, T10, and T13 all the way through T15. The apex of Marina (T6) will be adjusted to make it faster. The corner known as Clark (T9) will be removed. The circuit will just now follow Lakeside Drive and be flat out from Marina (T6) all the way to Waite (T11). Ascari (T13) will be given a wider entry and more camber making it a faster corner. 30.
