If it isn't ready in time for its 2010 debut one wonders what will happen as F1 has committments this year to a 19-race season. 3. For those looking at the page a few years down the road there was a lot of questions as to if this track would be ready for its 2010 debut with the F1 Grand Prix of Korea. Indeed it was but there were lingering questions about its completion until a FIA inspection two weeks before the race led to an approval of the progress made. 4. Currently the only race weekend on it's calendar is the F1. 6. There are no amenities nearby, and drivers had to stay in "love motels" (prostitution houses) during the race weekends. 8. This race track gained a reputation as a major white elephant flop in South Korea. The fact it was built with public tax dollars and would host just four Grand Prix races before losing F1 played into that. A New York Times article was written about the track's issues pointed out that there isn't much interest in auto racing, international or no, in South Korea. During the track's F1 tenure there were polls that showed that many fans thought the race was a one-off contest instead of part of an international championship. Others confused the event with K-1 martial arts competitions. While the race was intended to promote major Korean corporations none signed up to sponsor it because of its local obscurity. To its credit though, interest in racing has started to pick up on a domestic level since the Korean Grand Prix's demise. In addition to car racing this track has hosted motorcycle, bicycle and even roller skating races and competitions in recent years. 12. They came back a year later to find those items still in the fridge. That's how little used this track was even during F1's tenure. 13. The original Korean Super Prix was run on a street course in Changwon, South Korea annually from 1999 to 2003. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
