The track, located in the suburbs of Johannesburg, has hosted F1, A1GP, World Superbike, and the Superstars Series touring cars. This track was first built in 1961. After the 1985 South African Grand Prix F1 justifiably dropped this track from the schedule until South Africa ended its racist apartheid policies (where's that attitude now F1 given the possible drop of Italy to add Azerbaijan?). The track was reconfigured in 1990 and ready to host a revived South African Grand Prix in 1992 once apartheid was relegated to the history books. Unfortunately a promoter's bankruptcy meant the revival of the South African Grand Prix only lasted two years. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
