The first race was scheduled, contracted and offically on the schedule but cancelled in June after a change in local government led to all priority being put on the annual Qingdao International Beer Festival. The race was scheduled to take place alongside the beer festival but when the city's new mayor Zhang Xinqi took office on March 28 that year he believed the race and the festival should not take place at the same time. Attempts to reschedule or move the race failed and the race was cancelled, according to IndyCar it is to be replaced by another likely domestic USA race (Pocono or a second race at Texas Motor Speedway are rumored). 2. The new mayor apparently thought he was getting a F1 race when he took office and supposedly wasn't happy when someone explained to him the difference between that and IndyCar for what he was actually getting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
