Delaware is one of the oldest continuous-operated oval tracks in Canada,
first opening in 1952 and operating ever since. The track was originally
a dirt quarter-mile but morphed into a larger paved half-mile in the
1970s. The track is widely regarded as the birthplace of CASCAR, the
organization was founded by Delaware owner Tony Novatny (today a member
of the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame).
