This temporary circuit was set up on the streets of Vancouver around the
BC Place arena, the home of the several teams such as the CFL's BC Lions
and the NBA's now defunct Vancouver Grizzlies plus the site of the
opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics, and other
areas that were used when the city hosted the 'Expo 86' World's Fair.

For 1998 onwards the circuit was given almost a completely new layout.
The race itself was somewhat controversial in Vancouver as residents
complained about the noise and traffic problems caused by the race
weekends. The race was cancelled after 2004 and the areas where it was
held were eventually redeveloped for condominium use and venues for the
previously mentioned Winter Olympics.
