This road course was built in Czechoslovakia in 1987, replacing a street
circuit in Brno that had been used since 1950 for hosting the nation's
motorcycle grand prix. It became part of the Czech Republic when
Czechoslovakia broke up peacefully in 1993.

The track has hosted a wide variety of events ranging from MotoGP to
A1GP, the World Sportscar Championship, FIA GT1 championship, DTM, and
the WTCC.

This was the first Czech track to be listed on Racing-Reference.

This was the only track behind the Iron Curtain to host a round of the
World Sportscar Championship. In 1988 the Czechoslovakian Grand Prix was
a WSC round with Jochen Mass and Jean-Louis Schlesser winning in a
Sauber-Mercedes. The race was part of the short-lived World Touring Car
Championship in 1987 and was a round of the European Touring Car
Championship from 1976 until that time.
