This track was built in 1999 and has hosted a number of top European and
global series. The MotoGP, the World Touring Car Championship, DTM, F2,
the FIA GT Championship, and the European Le Mans series have all made
stops here. Ricardo Tormo, the track's namesake race, was a 50 cc Grand
Prix motorcycle champion in 1978 and 1981.

This will be the first permanent track in Europe to host a Formula E
race. The track is the second permanent track globally to host the world
championship after Mexico's famous Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
