During the lead to 24 Hours a public bus of all things somehow ended up in the gravel trap at the Mulsanne hairpin...and all over the Internet afterward. The orange bus thankfully ended up in the kitty litter only because of a wrong turn as compared to any sort of wild driving. 5. The majority of them are volunteers so thank you to all who help this crown jewel of motorsports take place. 6. Other movies that have filmed here over the years include the French classic "Un Homme et Une Femme" ("A Man and a Woman") and "Michel Valliant," the latter based off the popular French comic book racer. Some scenes for "Ford v. Ferrari," centered on the 1966 Le Mans duel between the two titular brands, were also shot here in Le Mans although many of the racing scenes for the 24 Hours were shot at Road Atlanta and the Hutchinson Island road course in Georgia. Many documentaries, such as "The 24-Hour War" about the Ford-Ferrari rivalry and Audi's "Truth in 24" films, have also been filmed here about the race. 7. The footbridge is themed to look like a tire with there having been several versions of it over the years, its first incarnation was set up in 1923 for the very first running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The bridge gained is current position for the 1966 Le Mans 24 with the large current version of the bridge being built in 1978. It stands near the Dunlop Chicane section of the track named for it and is included in both Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe and shorter Bugatti Circuit configurations. Le Mans also had a second Dunlop Bridge for more than 20 years. The second bridge stood at the Tertre Rouge corner from 1953 until 1979 when it was dismantled and replaced by a tunnel. A road improvement project necessitated its removal. 8. The national anthems of the all of the countries with competing drivers are also played during the run up to the start. 9.
