The route included a run down part of the famous Via Cristoforo Colombo and a finish line at the Marconi Obelisk, a monument to Nobel Prize-winning radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi built for Rome's 1960 Summer Olympics. Other highlights the track passes include the Rome Convention Center and the Palazzo dei Congressi, which hosted events during the Olympics and was originally designed for the cancelled 1942 World's Fair that had been planned to be held in EUR before World War II broke out. There were proposals for Formula 1 street course races here in 1984 and 2009 before Formula E brought a track here to fruition. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
