This street course hosted the Portugese Grand Prix three times in 1954,
1957, and 1959 with the final year serving as a World Championship
event. The track was set up in the Monsanto Forest Park, Lisbon's
largest green space, and proved a challenge to drivers because it
included several different surfaces. It even crossed some tram tracks at
one point.
