This track was actually a street circuit and considered one of the best
F1 has ever run.

F1 abandoned this course after 1975 because of safety concerns, Rolf
Stommelen's car broke a wing and flipped over a barricade in the
resulting crash resulting in the death of five spectators. Some knew
there were issues ahead of time, Emerson Fittipaldi had refused to run
the race.

The final race in 1975 did see one happy milestone as Lella Lombardi
became the first woman racer to score points in Formula One.

Today the area were this track was includes some of Anella Olímpica,
Barcelona's Olympic Park from when they hosted the 1992 Summer Olympics.
The City of Barcelona paid tribute to the track by setting up markers
indicting the course in 2004 and a celebratory event including some F1
cars lapping the course was held in 2007.
