This track opened in 1997 as Germany's third permanent racing circuit.
The track has hosted a wide variety of events including DTM, the World
Touring Car Championship, and lower level open wheel racing like Formula 3.

This track's squared off Turn 1 is the site of the infamous "The guy who
designed that corner should be taken into a dark room and be beaten"
