This street circuit was not set up for decades after F1 discontinued use
of it. The track was revived on a bi-annual basis in 2005 and hosted the
WTCC in 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2013 (the 2015 WTCC Portugal race is
scheduled for another track).

This Portuguese street circuit was the first counter-clockwise street or
road course to host a F1 World Championship race. The track was tight
and hard to pass on as during the F1 era it darted over tramlines and
featured some sections paved with cobblestones.
