This is a unique track both for being a proper short oval in Europe and
for having once been fully demolished and rebuilt at a new location.

Raceway Venray initially started as a motocross track called the Circuit
de Peel. The Motocross World Championship held a few races there in the
1980s but ultimately moved on leading the track owner Harry Maessen to
build an oval track to accompany the motocross one in 1989. It started
out as a concrete track in 1989 (that's before Bristol or Dover tried it
in the USA) but ultimately switched to asphalt in 1996. Ultimately
zoning issues though led to the closure and demolition of the original
track in 2008 before a new oval, the current track, was built on a
former pig farm property across the street. The new track opened in 2009.
