The A1-Ring was owned by Red Bull and was a shortened version of the old
Osterreichring, and utilized much of the old circuit.

Hosted the Austrian Grand Prix in that configuration of the track from
1997 to 2003.

This circuit always produced great races. It averaged the most overtakes
per race every year it was on the schedule. Unfortunately it only lasted
seven years and is now unusable as it was left unattended after F1 left.

Site of the infamous 2002 Grand Prix of Austria where Ferrari forced
Ruben Barrichello to pull over on the last lap of the race within sight
of the finish line to allow Michael Schumacher, who already had a huge
basically unbeatable points lead, to win.

Track was rebuilt, restored and reopened in 2011, it is now named the
Red Bull Ring after it's owners.

Quite possibly, this is the most beautiful purpose built track.

Will return to Formula 1 under the Red Bull Ring name for 2014. Red Bull
1-2?

Why isn't this merged with Osterreichring since A1-Ring is a reconfig of
Osterreichring... likewise, Red Bull Ring is just A1-Ring with updated
pit facilities and new grandstands.

The correct track name is now Red Bull Ring, and the Osterreichring
races should be combined into this page.

There are rumors the longer version of this track may be revived in 2017.

From Andrew Benson:

BBC Sport - Formula 1 discusses season start in Austria followed by two
races at Silverstone (Hopefully one on the pre-2010 layout.)

Also from BBC Sport - Budget cap latest. New proposal for sliding scale
from $145m in 2021 to $130m in ?22. Plus proposal for handicapping
system on aero development. More talks next week, and doubtless some
weeks more, too.

That would be interesting. Two F1 races at the same track in quick
succession. If its Silverstone one would be the British Grand Prix but I
wonder what the other could be. A revival of the European Grand Prix?
The English Grand Prix? Go for a much-needed laugh and call it the
Sealand Grand Prix?

@12

Dieter Rencken and Keith Collantine from RaceFans are saying they've
been told three races at Silverstone now.

@11 The pre 2010 layout would be a no go. That portion of track needed
isn't raced on anymore and is part of the general admissions area.

@12 - I'd go for Sealand Grand Prix, that would be great.

@14

I was looking at it from Google Maps it's still there Cory in fact I
read it is still used for vintage racing. It might need a fresh pave but
other than that it's fine.

Sealand. The only "country" not affected by coronavirus. It would be
interesting to watch, but I think the cars would need Monster truck
tires. Good thing, they are only twice as big as the current
marshmallows they race on.

From Philip Horton:

Chase Carey confirms #F1 is in talks with some tracks not currently on
the 2020 calendar, and that it is "likely" a second RB Ring race will be
on July 11/12 weekend, after July 4/5 opener.

@20, @21
With how fate and the pandemic played out in 2020 Algarve, Imola,
Mugello, and the Nurburgring all ended up unexpectedly holding F1 races
that season due to the unavailability of many of the usual tracks due to
travel and crowd restrictions. Imola and Algarve ended up staying on the
schedule for 2021 too.

The Red Bull Ring did open the season with a doubleheader, both on the
same modern layout, featuring the Austrian and Steiermark Grand Prix races.
