After the games the city's Olympic area will be revamped to build this street circuit. The course will run near the Olympic Park and Olympic Village. The track will pass Sochi's train station and venues used during the Olympics for skating and curling. This track will host the first Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix and the first Russian Grand Prix overall since 1914. The plan is for the first race to be held in October 2014 but it could be pushed back to 2015 if there are delays related to the Olympics. 2. Russian life is still fairly ordinary unless you're near the Ukrainian border, so Sochi should be unaffected. The circuit held it's first race weekend last weekend and overall it was described as a power circuit, so expect to see Merc clean the field. 6. 23andJoe posted: 10.12.2014 - 6:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The correct name of the circuit is "Sochi Autodrome". 7. In the early to mid 1980s there was a push to do a Grand Prix of the Soviet Union on a street circuit in Moscow but it failed amid bureaucratic issues. In 1989 there was also rumors they could stage a F1 race on a street course in Leningrad (now again called St. Petersburg) but that too went nowhere. 8.
