Parts of the track, mostly the outer portions of the road course had already been demolished to make room for facilites for the 2007 Pan American Games. Jacarepagua featured two mostly seperate race tracks both named for Brazilian racing legends... The first was the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet, an 11-turn road course used for the Brazilian Grand Prix F1 race. The second was the Emerson Fittipaldi Speedway, an odd trapezoid-shaped oval track used by CART. 2.
