Facility now closed and will be torn down to make room for training
facilites for the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. Parts of the track, mostly
the outer portions of the road course had already been demolished to
make room for facilites for the 2007 Pan American Games.

Jacarepagua featured two mostly seperate race tracks both named for
Brazilian racing legends...

The first was the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet, an 11-turn
road course used for the Brazilian Grand Prix F1 race.

The second was the Emerson Fittipaldi Speedway, an odd trapezoid-shaped
oval track used by CART.

Main track had briefly reopened for a few more Stock Car Brasil events,
demolition completed in November 2012.

Today the area where this track stood is the Barra Olympic Park, the
Olympic Park for the 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympics held in Rio.
After the end of the Olympics it will be maintained as a training
facility for future Brazilian athletes.
